1998 Ram 1500 vacuum hose
Can someone please tell me where this vacuum hose connects to.
1998 Dodge Ram 1500 sport. The climate controls and the 4 x4 do not work. I suspect this broken vacuum hose is the culprit. Unfortunetly I can't seem to locate where it is supposed to connect.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

That goes through the firewall with the A/C lines to the climate control... with it cut, the climate control is disconnected, and the loss of vacuum in that line will disable the cruise control (if the actuator isn't already corroded).
Those hoses get brittle and break easy... that particular one chaffed through on the firewall on my truck (looks like that happened to you also).
I caught mine early enough whilst it was still connected... I fished enough out to cut and joint it with 1/8"ID rubber hose, and tuck the rubber into the firewall opening.
If you cant find the cut end, you have to pull the dash and heater-A/C to replace the hose... trouble with that is, the dash will likely disintegrate getting it out.
Another note for this area; the seal against the firewall deteriorates, and allows A/C condensate to run back into the cab, under the carpet... for this I used a 90� rubber elbow on the end of the condensate line so it drips away instead of tracking back to the firewall.

Is there two hoses running into the firewall? Because that other hose you can see behind the broken one goes through the firewall and is intact.

Hurrah Bryan! I found the stub sticking through the firewall. Just as you said. Luckily it is long enough to get a piece on to fix it. Thanks so much for your help.
It comes through the same spot as the cooling line. Some engineer should be castrated for designing it that way.

The other one goes through a grommet higher up (behind the hood seal)... this goes to a vacuum reservoir under the cowling.

I fixed my broken line with a carefully applied piece of heat shrink. Just a little idea if you have difficulty finding a piece of hose that will sit snugly enough...

I used a 2" piece of 1/8"ID rubber tube... smeared a thin coat of black RTV on the outside of the broken line, and slid it into the rubber tube... once the RTV sets, it takes care of the lack of snugness ;-)

Make sure you apply it to the broken line and *not* the hose... Too easy to plug the line with RTV if you do it the other way.
